This is a great trip with Dr. Chatterjee to Stanford. On Thursday morning, I cannot really fall sleep because I was too excited for this trip to Stanford, even though this my fourth time be there. This time is kind of official visiting trip to see the latest research and institution. After sleeping 2 hours, I had to wake up for the morning flight .

Gosh.... it's really early

It's boarding time. still can see the fog in the morning!

It's always amazing to look through the window of airplane during the flight

After we arrived San Jose International airport, we had to go rental car company to pick up our minivan to Stanford University. I am glad to let Sam drive for us because I almost fall sleep at that time.

Less people in the airport, it's only 8:30 when we arrived San Jose

What do you want to drive? A minivan!!!

In fact, this is my fist official visit to Stanford. I got shock of the campus. It's definitely beautiful. When we arrive Stanford, we went to visit the Media-X lab to see the latest research about social media and technology. Dr. Martha G Russell gave us a great presentation. I also notice their amazing work environment in Media X lab. hope one day I got chance to work with most advanced partner and environment in the world like Stanford University.

Beautiful Campus

This must be some smart guy in Stanford.

This is the Logo of Media X and Lek wasing say hi to me

The work environment is really amazing to me. This must be the biggest research lab I've ever seen
After a quick lunch in Stanford, we went to Dr. B.J. Foggs class and participate the lecture with Stanford students. B.J. Foggs is the pioneer researcher of persuasive technology. I really learn some new idea about persuasive technology through his lecture. Also, Stanford students really surprise me. Their reaction in class is really quick and their idea of class project is pretty surprising. I really like the idea about the Google Chrome extenstion that can enhace the users' interaction with social networking websites.

After the little discussion with B.J. Foggs, we went back to Media X to have another lecture about the virtual clinic environment research. This is also the pioneer research of clinical simulation research. The virtual system is called CliniSpace powered by Unity.

CliniSpace is new virtual clinical environment to enhance patient and physicians' experience.
After this lecture, finally we got to Sheraton hotel, I am really exhausted. but I still have another activity with mother's old friend. Uncle Lin brought me to have a trip to Apple's headquarter (this is my dream) and a great hometown dinner in Silicon Valley. I took a picture in front of the landmark of "Infinite Loop" with my new iPad(the Apple's latest product so far )

The Famous "Infinite Loop" of Apple's headquarter
I would say I accomplish another dream of my life :D

My hometown food in Taiwan called hún tún(Wonton 餛飩) Wiki link about Wonton

After HPI, we went back to Standford to visit CAPE to visit the most advanced surgical simulation center in the world. With real-context simulation environment and professional expert, the trainees can have precise and efficient training.

CAPE center

The idea is the same as training baseball player, practice, practice, practice

this is all about life and death. The real-world context baby object to train the doctors

The simulation also works with vital monitor and real surgical instrument

The expert will supervise the training and control the simulation environment and scenario
to ensure the quality of training.

This is a great trip to open my mind about the advanced research and the potential simulation. hope next time I can have another trip to Stanford.
